How many people should a small book club have?
A group of four to eight is a useful starting point, but two or three readers can have a good discussion too. Choose a size that fits your space and gives everyone room to contribute.
How often should we meet?
Monthly is one option. Every six weeks may fit longer books or busy schedules better. Agree on a realistic rhythm and adjust it after the first few meetings.
Do audiobooks count?
Yes. Your group can welcome print, audio, ebooks, and accessible editions. Decide together whether abridged editions suit a particular discussion. Refer to chapters or scenes rather than relying only on page numbers.
What if someone has not finished the book?
Let them know when spoilers begin and offer a choice to stay or step away. Start with a spoiler-light check-in. Avoid turning a missed reading deadline into a test of belonging.
Can we meet online across countries?
Yes. Include the date and time zone in every invitation, confirm local times around daylight-saving changes, and share the link privately. Choose a meeting length and format that work for the whole group.
Do we need food, decorations, or a theme?
No. A comfortable place and a few thoughtful questions are enough. If you share food, ask about allergies and preferences, label dishes clearly, and avoid making spending a condition of joining.
Where should we find books?
Try your local public library, used-book sellers, independent bookshops, and digital or audio services you already use. Availability and borrowing rules vary by country and library. Check formats and waiting lists before the club commits.
Is Book Club Ready a membership club?
No. We publish resources to help you run your own group. There is currently no paid membership, event booking, or public account registration.
Can we print your guides for a meeting?
You may print reasonable portions of our original guides for a non-commercial book-club meeting, with attribution intact, unless a resource says otherwise. See the Terms of Use.
